So Travis and I went to Palm Springs just over night. To celebrate and get away for our five year anniversary. We got a hotel room with a jacuzzi suite.
We stayed at the 7 Springs. Found the room to be very nice. Isn't the little towel elephant cute. It was just like the little towel animals we had on our honeymoon.
So we dropped the kids off with Jeff and Marsha and went to Palm Springs. Knowing that it was expected to be a high of 116 degrees. We made plans to take the Ariel Tram up to the top of the San Jacinto Mountains. Which was something neither of us had ever done. So we checked in to our hotel and rested a little bit. Then we headed up to the tram. Just where you board the tram was amazingly cooler so we were excited to get to the top where it was suppose to be in the high 70s. Even cooler than it was at home. We bought our tickets and waited to board the tram. So we got on and started up to the top. Wow that thing goes pretty fast.
We thought we had a good place to stand right in front with the windows open, but right after we headed up they started the floor rotating. But that was cool because then we got views all the way around. Here are some pictures, but there are a lot more on Smug mug the link is at the bottom.
The picture of the other tram is going down as we go up. You see one tram pulls the other one up so there is a half way point where we pass the other tram. Very exciting. The view was amazing and the higher we went up the cooler it got. We were so excited to get out of the heat.
So we walked through the shopping area and went up to the top where the view was amazing.
There aren't to many pictures of Travis since he is the one with the camera. But I was able to get some pictures of him.
Here is one with Palm Springs in the back gound. Isn't he just so handsome. I had taken a better picture of Travis but he had to crop it cause there was a shadow that had been cast in an inappropriate place. LOL And here is one of me with Palm Springs in the back ground.
So we walked around and went to their little movie area where they showed little films of how the tram was constructed, etc. Then we walked around some more. Waiting to kill time to go to the restaurant. So I remembered that my mom had said there was a tree that smells like butter scotch. But we didn't want to just go around and smell trees like weirdos. So I went into this little gift shop and we asked the two people in there. They were very very helpful and nice. And after their thourough explination of what it looks like we were of down the trail to find it. Well luckily we didnt have to go to far because we weren't dressed for a hike. So we found it and like a couple of crazy people stuck our noses in the tree bark. And amazingly it smelled like butter scotch. One guy said as he was walking by us, that it smelled more like carmel. We just laughed.
Travis had to take a picture of me smelling the tree. He said it was funny, because it looks like I am going to make out with the tree. But really if you ever get the chance to go up there you have to look for this tree. It's called Jeffrey Pine and it had a big trunk, redish bark and three pine needles in a cluster and they are really long.

So after we found the tree is was time to go back up and go to the restaurant. So we went up there and there was another couple in front of us. And the hostest was alittle confused so we thought she was talking to us and they thought she was talking to them. So like in stero Travis and the other man tell her their names and it was so crazy they both say Travis at the same time. And then we all laugh and she says your last name and they both say Miller. What are the crazy odds. We all looked at each other and laughed. Isn't that just wild. So they sat us and we had a pretty good view. They were alittle slow with the service but the food was soooo good. It was so good infact that we had some one join us for dinner. It was a squriel on the floor inside the restaurant. They said he frequents there a lot and it was normal. Very entertaining. I have a picture of our dessert which has a funny story behind it, but I won't get into it right now. But here is a picture of it. It's berries and cream.
So after we finish our dessert we hurried to the tram because after a certain hour they stop running it every half hour and go to every hour. We wanted to get down to our hotel room. I had forgotten to get candles so we stopped at a riteaid to get some. We then wanted to rent a movie. So we went to a Savon where they had a red box where you could rent movies for a dollar. We rented two movies. Our room had a really good surround sound system. Here is the picture of our bathub and room.
Very romantic. We took a bath, relaxed and watch the movies that we rented. It was a very nice night. Long over due! So then we slept in and then packed up and left. We went and walked a couple of the stores on the strip. Here is a picture of me with Sonny Bono. :)
Then it was lunch time and we drove to the Riverwalk shopping. We went to a hat shop and tried on hats. This one was my favorite and I so wish I could have gotten it. But anyway we ate at the best BBQ place called Babe's. It was so good. We then walked around the shops and then came home since our babysitter's were going to be no longer avaliable. We wished we could have had more time to be alone. But there will be other times.Travis had to leave early in the morning for Az. the next day. But all in all we had a wonderful time in Palm Springs. And it was a wonderful Anniversary.
